KCSO reports
• At 12:08 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29, a complainant called Knox County Sheriff’s Office North Precinct to report an identity theft at a Hampshire Bay Lane residence. Complainant advised he received a bill from Verizon for an account he did not open. He said the account was opened by an unknown suspect using his personal information. He stated the exact date the account was opened is unknown. He was advised by Verizon to file a report. The account has been suspended by Verizon pending an investigation.
• At 4:17 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, a complainant called KCSO Teleserve Unit to report a burglary from her Toyota Corolla at a Confederacy Circle address. Complainant said the driver-side window of her vehicle was down and the suspect stole her pocketbook through the open window of the vehicle. “A neighbor was able to provide a photo of the suspect from their security camera,” the report stated.
• At 1:35 p.m., Sept. 26, two KCSO units responded to Turkey Creek Medical Center in reference to a patient who allegedly stole from an employee. Officers spoke to victim/complaint, who said “he was a contractor working for the hospital and left his backpack in the hallway as he was working,” the report stated, adding “when he returned to grab his bag, it was gone; he then advised hospital security and they both reviewed the security cameras.”
Victim said when he returned to the hallway, “his backpack was back in the hallway but his VA ID card, Social Security card and drivers license were missing. I then reviewed the security camera footage with hospital security and observed (suspect/arrestee) pick up the victim’s bag and then later place it back. I then read the arrestee his Miranda Rights and questioned him about the incident.”
The arrestee said he “‘took the bag, got the victim’s wallet out of the bag and used the victim’s credit card to buy some chips out of the vending machine,’” the report stated. “When asked about the missing cards, the victim stated he did not know. Upon a search … I located a Social Security card belonging to the victim in the arrestee’s right pant pocket. The victim was returned his Social Security card and given a report number of the incident. The victim’’ VA ID card and driver’s license were not found. Arrestee was transported to the Knox County Detention Facility.” Total value of loss was listed at $30.
• At 4:24 Monday, Sept. 25, a complainant called KCSO Teleserve Unit to report a theft of card numbers from a Campbell Lakes Drive address. He advised on Friday, Sept. 22, he attended “Bike Night at Daddy Mac’s” where he handed the card to the suspect to make purchases. He said around 10 a.m., Sept. 26, “he discovered around $600 was transferred to a bank account with the listed suspect’s name on it in Key West, Florida,” the report stated. “The complainant advised he looked up the listed suspect on Facebook and confirmed him to be in Florida at the time of the transaction.”
• At 12:26 p.m., Sept. 19, a KCSO unit responded to Farragut High School, 11237 Kingston Pike, due to a laptop computer having been stolen from the library during May. Complainant said she has searched all over to confirm that it had, in fact, been stolen. Total value of loss was $1,126.
