FHS rep Anil ‘thrilled’ with Tourism Committee role
Farragut High School senior Anusha Anil, 17, recently was chosen to share her insights on that committee.
“I am thrilled and thankful about serving on the committee,” said the daughter of AnilKumar Bangalore and Anitha Biderkatte. “I attended my first meeting on July 18 and was fascinated to learn about how the (Knox County) community has expanded and how many new developments have occurred.
And “my parents are very excited about me serving on the committee,” Anil added. “They believe it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to gain new skills, meet new people, develop contacts and learn community developments.
“They know that it is a unique opportunity and want me to get the best out of it.”
Anil also is a Youth Leadership Knoxville 2023 graduate. “During my time at YLK, I had the opportunity to meet local leaders and (learn about) their impacts on the community,” she said. “After graduating from YLK, I was looking for similar opportunities within Farragut.
“I decided to serve on this specific committee because I love to travel,” Anil added. “Traveling has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve had the opportunity to explore various places around the world. Thus, I was drawn to this committee.
“This is my first time being a youth representative for the Town of Farragut. I am hoping to learn more about Farragut’s town and what it has to offer with respect to tourism.”
Through this experience, “I also hope to learn how to plan and conduct meetings, listen to differing opinions and make decisions that are best for everyone,” said Anil, an active member of several FHS clubs, including Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, National Honor Society and HOSA.
As a youth member, “I can bring ideas that can create connections, stimulate the local economy and enhance the overall quality of life,” she said. “I can also help advertise about the local events at my school.”
Anil is focusing on the STEM field for college, though adding she does not have any specific college in mind.
“I hope to pursue a career in the healthcare field in the future,” Anil said. “Serving on the Farragut Tourism/Visitor Advisory Committee will help me build valuable connections with other committee members, local businesses and government officials.
“I can also improve on various skills, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving and leadership,” she added.
