Reaching substate, HVA vball falls in 5 sets
Surviving season elimination in the Region 2-AAA tournament after defeating host Clinton in straight sets 25-20, 25-20 and 25-12 Tuesday, Oct. 10, Hardin Valley Academy volleyball ended up as region runner-up.
That meant the Lady Hawks would hit the road and play Region 1-AAA champion West Ridge in a substate match Thursday, Oct. 12, that would determine a state tourney berth.
It was a dramatic battle, but Hardin Valley would fall in five sets 24-26, 30-28, 18-25, 28-26, 12-15, ending a successful 2023 season with a 27-12 record. West Ridge improved to 37-8.
Two All-District 4-AAA stars, regular season co-MVP Tinsley Brown, an outside hitter, and setter Annah Cate Hyatt, have played their final matches as Lady Hawks.
Both seniors also earned All-District Tournament honors.
