’88 FHS grad advocates for small business
Farragut High School Class of 1988 graduate Scott Chase is advocating for Farragut and West Knox business owners as an NFIB membership representative.
He spoke to Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce as a new member during its networking at Postal Annex, 9234 Kingston Pike, Thursday morning, Oct. 26, about how he can help them with state and federal governments.
Chase explained NFIB, like the Chamber, is a membership-based, non-profit national organization; however, he covers the Farragut and West Knox County area.
For him, covering the Farragut area is personal.
“We do our part to help small businesses,” Chase said. “We are the voice of those small business members. What we do benefits the entire community, but rely on members’ support.
“We unify their voices and advocate for them at the state and federal level on any issue that affects their business’ profits,” he added. “We’re consistently bi-partisan.”
While its teams do lobby
for businesses, Chase said their mission is “bigger than a lobby.
“It’s getting our members a seat at the table,” he added.
As such, NFIB speaks up on legislation affecting small businesses.
“We have 30,000 national branches, but we rely on members for their loyalty and fiancial support.”
