Warriors out after 1st playoff round at CPA

NASHVILLE — Facing the rigors of a No. 1 seed on the road, Christian Academy of Knoxville saw its 2023 football season come to a close Friday night, Nov. 3.

Christ Presbyterian Academy, top seeded from the Mid-state Region in Division II-AA improved to 10-1 after beating the Warriors 42-6. The No. 6 seed from the East Region, CAK’s final record is 4-7.

Quarterback Sawyer Anderson completed 15-of-28 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown for Christian Academy.

Leading receiver for CAK was Chris Cook, whose eight catches for 95 yards included the team’s one TD scoring reception. Helton also hauled in eight passes, good for 65 yards. Will Kelley caught three targets for 21 yards.

The Warriors’ rushing attack was completely shut down, only gaining three net yards.

Defensively for CAK, Maddox Mozingo led in total tackles with 10, including two stops for loss. Silas Fulford added nine total tackles and grabbed one of two Christian Academy interceptions.

Teammate Quinton Stone had the other pick. Warrior defenders Colin Crider and Kyler Cook each contributed six total tackles, with one of Crider’s a tackle for loss. Colby Stokely had a sack.
