Re-live Countdown to Light-Park on PBS noon, Christmas Eve
Visit Farragut recently partnered with East Tennessee PBS to film Countdown to Light the Park as a TV special.
“It’s running at noon, Sunday, Dec. 24,” said Kristi Vining, tourism assistant with Visit Farragut.
“It’s an hour-long special featuring the day and interviews with the Mayor (Ron Williams), Town administrator (David Smoak), Tourism manager (Karen Tindal) and Public Works (director Bud McKelvey about) what all goes into making that event happen.”
Residents also can watch the PBS special on PBS Passport after the airing. “Our Public Works department works tirelessly for months to prepare for Light the Park, and it is something Farragut guests and residents look forward to each year,” said Karen Tindal, Visit Farragut manager. “The show is an opportunity to showcase Farragut during the holidays and a chance to show Farragut’s great parks and our community spirit.”
“East Tennessee PBS’s focus is to provide quality, unique programming and to serve the community and its needs,” Vining said.
East Tennessee PBS is a non-profit, viewer-supported public broadcasting station dedicated to providing lifelong learning opportunities to more than 2 million viewers in East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina.
“We know our viewers love holiday shows so this partnership was a great fit for us,” said Vickie Lawson, PBS chief executive officer.
“Farragut is a great community in West Knox (County), so this was an opportunity to showcase all their efforts for a meaningful holiday event and expand their event and expand their reach,” she added.
