Rally fuels Lady Hawks
HARDIN VALLEY — At home against Karns Thursday night, Dec. 14, Hardin Valley Academy’s girls’ basketball team was down 11, 36-25, with 5:38 left in the third quarter.
The Lady Hawks then flipped that proverbial switch.
They scored the final 16 points of the third, then closed the game on a 16-4 run, to run away for a 57-41 non-district win. HVA, who still hasn’t played a district game, was 5-3 to start the week.
“Very proud,” Hardin Valley head coach Jennfier Galloway said. “It was definitely a game of swings. You know, we got down in the first half and then tied it. Got down 11 in the third and came back. I think we kind of settled in a little bit. We also started getting stops on defense.”
“I would hate to know what our shooting was in the second half,” KHS head coach Lauren Trent said. “Hardin Valley did a really good job crashing the offensive boards.”
“I feel like we were able to do what we wanted to do defensively (in the second half),” Galloway said. “We were able to get some clean rebounds.”
Kyndra West, HVA junior point guard, led all scorers with 15. “Kyndra did a good job handling the ball late,” Galloway said.
Lily Adkisson scored 12 and Bella Buccola added 10 for the winners. “I think we really picked up the energy and we worked well together as a team and pushed the ball up,” said Buccola, a junior forward.
Rylee Roberts was high scorer for Karns with 13 points.
