Future Vols: 1st, 3rd gen

A pair of Farragut High School baseball stars who have shared a lifelong love of Tennessee athletics and who referenced their Christian faith signed with UT during a National Signing Period ceremony at FHS Nov. 10: Brennon Seigler (left), outfielder, and Stratton Scott, pitcher. “I’ve grown up here; my grandfather went to Tennessee and played football (quarterback Bobby Scott, 1968-1970) and my dad played football there, too (Benson Scott, 1997-1999),” Scott said. “I’ve been on the campus since I was 5. So the moment I started realizing that I might be able to play baseball in college, I knew Tennessee was where I wanted to go.” Seigler said he was “born and raised in Knoxville; my blood has run Orange my whole life. When the time came for me to make a decision my freshman year (at FHS), I took a step back, did a lot of praying and thinking about it because it was a tough decision for me because I was young, pretty immature, didn’t really know what I wanted to do. But I took a step back, felt like God answered my prayers and I knew Tennessee was the place for me.”

About the benefits of FHS, “it’s just we’ve created a culture here that everybody wants to be at the field,” Scott said. “… And even after practice, we’re having Bible studies, we’re going to eat together. It’s more of a family than a team.”
