Next McFee purchase step: approve an engineer; BOMA united with Cannon-Cannon
Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen took the next step with its newly acquired 70 acres near McFee Road when it approved supplemental engineering services from Cannon & Cannon Inc. during its meeting Thursday, Dec. 14.
“We were able to successfully and smoothly get the property purchased, closed, on McFee,” Town attorney Tom Hale reported. “The Town now owns the 70 acres, and you all can start thinking about what you want to do with it.”
“(Thinking) can start after August 2024,” Vice Mayor Louise Povlin said and laughed.
“You recall we had a contract with Cannon & Cannon Inc. for due diligence investigation of the property that was recently purchased off McFee Road (adjacent to the railroad tracts),” Town engineer Darryl Smith said. “Now that we have closed on that, we feel it is prudent to go ahead and re-plat the property to define all the property lines and all the easements and dissolve the interior lot lines.
“This is additional work for Cannon & Cannon that is outside the scope of their original contract,” he added. “It has a supplemental fee of $9,800.”
With a motion from Povlin and a second from Alderman David White, the Board voted unanimously to approve Cannon & Cannon’s request.
