In the race for the District 5 Knox County Commission, there are five Republican candidates vying for the position. Unfamiliar with any of them, I took it upon myself to conduct thorough research using search engines like Google or bing.
Upon reviewing the candidates, I found that one of the contenders had issues that led me to disqualify them from my consideration. Additionally, several others seemed to provide general messages about growth and infrastructure without offering specific plans or details.
Given my experience, I strongly recommend that every voter conducts their own research on these candidates before casting their vote.
However, among the contenders, there was one candidate who stood out to me as possessing the knowledge and experience I was seeking. That candidate is Angela Russell, and she has my full support for the position of District 5 County Commission.
Angela brings to the table qualifications as a state-licensed Certified Public Accountant and a state-licensed real estate appraiser, qualities that are crucial for the County Commission.
Equally significant is Angela's track record as an active citizen, successfully defending the Choto community from a Pill Mill in 2015, preventing the Choto Landing low-income housing project from proceeding last year, and recently collaborating with neighbors to influence the Knoxville/Knox County Commission to reduce a rezoning request from five units per acre to three units per acre on Harvey Road. Angela also played a pivotal role in the expansion of Northshore Road.
