• Kevin L. Jessee recently was promoted to chief executive officer at Citizens Bank. He joined the Citizens Bank team in 1999 and has held various leadership roles in the company. In 2018, Jessee became part of the executive leadership as its chief credit officer. In 2021, the bank expanded his responsibilities, adding the role of president.
• Paula Goins, LPN, recently was named executive director of Morning Pointe of Hardin Valley in Knoxville.
In this role, she oversees daily operations at the assisted living and memory care community, which is located at 2449 Reagan Road.
• Hae Won Shin, M.D., recently was named chairman of the Department of Neurology and Semmes-Murphey professor at University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Shin recently joined the UT Health Science Center from University of New Mexico Health Science Center’s School of Medicine, where she served in the Department of Neurology as executive vice chair, vice chair of Clinical Affairs and Epilepsy Section chief.
• Scott Yates recently was appointed vice president of corporate development for Priority OnDemand, a provider of healthcare solutions. He will direct the company’s growth strategy, focusing on acquisitions and unique partnership models.
• UT Health Science Center researchers Gabor Tigyi, MD, PhD; Harriet Van Vleet Endowment Professor in basic oncology research; Junming Yue, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Pathology; Sue Chin Lee, PhD, in the Department of Physiology; and David Schwartz, MD, chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, are part of a scientific leadership group that recently was awarded $20 million from the University of Tennessee-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute, in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to develop new radiopharmaceutical therapies to treat cancer.
• UT Foundation and UT, Knoxville, recently announced the appointment of Brian Broyles as senior vice chancellor for advancement for UT Knoxville. Broyles, who has served as interim vice chancellor for advancement since July, brings a track record of leadership and excellence in fundraising to the position.
His advancement career started in annual giving, and through consistent success he rose to his most recent position as associate vice chancellor for advancement at UT Knoxville.
• University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development recently named Professor Vasileios Maroulas as new assistant vice chancellor and deputy director of the AI Tennessee Initiative.
He will work with the director of the AI Tennessee Initiative to advance research, education, innovation and economic development in artificial intelligence and related areas benefiting UT’s students and the state.
