KCSO reports
• At 8:17 p.m., Sunday, March 3, Knox County Sheriff’s Office units were dispatched to a business burglary in progress at Pep Boy Tires, 10839 Kingston Pike. Complainant said he called 911 to report “two white males were seen jumping the property’s fence and loading tires from Pep Boys’ yard into the back of a green box truck bearing a Tennessee tag,” the report stated. “The box truck began to flee the scene. However, (it) was intercepted by officers at the entrance to the lot.”
One of the suspects said “they were contracted … to collect tires for resale,” the report further stated. As the contractors’ representative, the complainant said he “had never seen the suspects and (the contractor) does not contract them for a resale service.”
Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility by wagon. “Forty tires were found in the rear of a (2005 Ford E-350), totaling a value of $900.”
• At 1:23 a.m., Sunday, March 3, a complainant called KCSO Teleserve Unit to report a theft at Cotton Eyed Joe’s, 11220 Outlet Drive. “Complainant advised she last saw her items on a table near the bar area,” the report stated. “The complainant stated she went outside to smoke and returned to discover the items missing.”
Total value of loss was $647, which included a $500 Apple smartphone. Complainant advised she does not know who took the items. Complainant was advised to call KCSO and add a serial number for NCIC entry if located.
• At 2:35 p.m., Friday, March 1, a complainant called KCSO North Precinct to report a theft at a Sweatleaf Lane residence. He advised an unknown suspect took the outdoor hanging heater from the unfinished residence. He advised the residence is still under construction and the heater was in the garage. Value of heater was listed at $650.
• At 11:58 a.m., March 1, a complainant called KCSO North Precinct to report fraud false pretense at a Green Mountain Drive residence. Complainant advised she received a call from someone claiming to be (an officer) with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office,” the report stated. “The phone number used for the suspect was (listed). He claimed the victim had a warrant for contempt of court on failure to appear for jury duty.
“He stated the victim needed to pay $6,000 in Bitcoin for the fines or she would be arrested. Complainant advised she sent the money via a Bitcoin machine at Kroger, 189 Brooklawn St.”
• At 2:29 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 29, a complainant called KCSO West Precinct to report identity theft from a Buckley Road.
Complainant advised she received anonymous text messages asking confirmation for the last four digits of her Social Security number for a job.
She advised the text messages were advising … her name … and congratulations on the new job opportunity.
Complainant advised she did not apply for any jobs and believes someone is using her SSN.
