It’s Cain in Ward I; Roberts vs. Burnette in Ward II
Town of Farragut will join the Knox County, state of Tennessee and federal election process in mid-summer, with three candidates to date looking to fill two open alderman seats on the Town’s five-representative Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
While Knox County will hold its general election in early August, with contests including filling the term-limited seat currently held by 5th District Knox County School Board rep Susan Horn and the 5th District County Commission seat, also term-limited, held by John Schoonmaker, the North and South Wards of Farragut each will be filled with one seat, which is up for grabs during the Town’s non-partisan/non-primary election.
The Town also will be looking for a new vice mayor in late summer, with Vice Mayor Louise Povlin term-limited as the North Ward (respresenting Farragut citizens living to the north of Kingston Pike) rep, whose seat will be open and decided in August.
Throwing his hat in the ring to replace Povlin is Alexander Cain, the only North Ward, Ward I candidate listed to date on the Knox County Election Commission website.
Ward II, the South Ward (representing Town citizens who live south of Kingston Pike), features a citizen looking to be elected for the first time and began elected service in Farragut.
Randall Roberts is that candidate, as Roberts will be facing incumbent South Ward representative Drew Burnette in August.
State of Tennessee and all federal elections, including President of the United States, will finish their primary elections in August, with state and federal general elections taking place the first Tuesday in November (Nov. 5).
