‘Addams Family’ April 26-28 at Hardin Valley
HARDEN VALLEY — Hardin Valley Academy’s musical theater students will present “The Addams Family,” a New Musical Comedy, at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, and at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 28, in the HVA auditorium, 11345 Hardin Valley Road.
The performance will feature 35 students, who make up both cast and crew, according to John McMeen, HVA musical director, who is joined by director John Sides, the school’s theater director, and choreographer Traci Lively.
“We try to pick shows based on a cycle of four years,” McMeen said. “Last year, we did a tap dance show, so this year we want to do a modern show to bring a more modern audience, and I think everyone knows Addams Family, the story, the TV show.
“I think this musical came out in 2010 or 2012, so we’re trying to get a more modern musical on the stage,” he added.
Cast members include Anderson Rast as Gomez Addams, Courtney Kennedy as Morticia Addams, Jaylon Carey as Wednesday Addams, Anthony Canales as Pugsley Addams, Kathryn Bornhoeft as Uncle Fester, Ken Shubert/Jaidyn Dryden as Grandma Addams, Silas Bridges as Mal Beinecke, Emma Zimmerman as Alice Beinecke, Jayden Sheard as Lucas Beinecke and Adam Lunsford as Lurch
“I’m excited because it’s very different from what I am as a person, but the bald cap process takes about an hour, so that’s not as fun,” said Bornhoeft, a senior, about portraying Uncle Fester. Still, “it’s definitely a fun role.”
Zimmerman, a senior, said in the musical, another family was added. “It’s like a romance-interest family because (Alice) Beinecke’s son, Lucas Beinecke, ends up falling in love with Wednesday,” he said.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. For tickets, visit the link, https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/81667
“We’ll be selling concessions,” McMeen said. “And, at one of the shows, we will have a raffle at the door.”
