9th Annual Southern Tequila- Taco Festival set for April 26
The 9th Annual Southern Tequila and Taco Festival returns to Farragut to provide tacos, tequila and live music while supporting Remote Area Medical Center.
The event is scheduled to start at 5 a.m. for early admission and 6 p.m. for general admission, Friday, April 26, at Mayor Ralph McGill Plaza, 101 N. Campbell Station Road, next to Campbell Station Inn. The event ends at 9 p.m.
“It seems like we’ve got a lot more restaurants participating this year, so that’s always good,” festival founder John Volpe said. He estimated having between 70 to 75 restaurant participants and more than 100 different tequilas to try.
And, “we’re still getting vendors,” he added.
“I think it’s going to be a really good turnout. We are praying for good weather.”
Despite last year’s threat of rain, there were about 1,100 who attended.
“This year, we expect close to 2,000,” he said. “It has grown to be a great event. We get a lot of praise for how organized the layout is and how well people can get around.”
Additionally, the event will feature two live performances: Joshiah and the Greater Good from 5 to 7 p.m. and Marlee Hart from 7 to 9 p.m.
Cost to attend is $70 for early admission, $50 for advance general admission — $60 general admission at the door — and $20 for a designated driver.
While “we don’t allow anyone under 21,” children in strollers will be admitted, Volpe said.
Tickets are available online at southerntequilafest.com
This is the second year the festival will take place on the Plaza.
“Visit Farragut sponsored us last year (and helped with the site,” Volpe said. “It was a good area to do it.
“We decided to go with the same location this year,” he added. “There’s plenty of parking, easy access, and it had a really good flow.”
