Webb’s Diamond complex dedication salutes Wormsley
Named in honor of Clark Wormsley, retired Spartan head varsity baseball and assistant football coach who was inducted into Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017, the 8,400-square-foot facility “includes a netted indoor practice area that features two full-length bullpen tunnels and two hitting tunnels for Webb’s baseball and softball teams,” a Webb School press release stated. “The complex also houses changing rooms for baseball, softball and soccer.”
Wormsley guided Webb’s varsity baseball program for more than 20 years, winning 445 games and a state championship in 2010 before retiring in 2011 and passing the coaching torch to his son, Jordan Wormsley, a Webb alum and former Spartans standout baseball player.

Two years later, he took over as head coach and led Webb to seven region titles and six state appearances, also including state runner-up finishes in 2003, 2005 and 2011 in addition to the state crown.
“Under his tutelage, numerous Spartan players went on to play in college and/or professionally,” the press released stated.”
The elder Wormsley also was inducted into the East Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007.
The dedication ceremony kicked off with a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m., followed by a reception and tour of the facility from 5 to 6 p.m.
Clark Wormsley also served as offensive coordinator for the Spartans varsity football team for more than 30 years, helping head coach Dave Meske win a handful of state championship, while also Webb Middle School Dean of Students and a teacher in the middle school.
