Launching in style

Salon Biyoshi hosts open house to showcase latest expansion

Salon Biyoshi will be launching its recent expansion, which includes new space and services, with an open house to showcase the remodel from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 30, in the salon, 10412 Kingston Pike.

“We’re going to have a classic deejay that spins vinyl,” said Jessie Lee, Salon Biyoshi administrator. “We’re going to have a custom menu of cocktails and mocktails.

“We’ll have hors d’oeuvres. I believe Classy Catering is going to cater,” she added. “And, we’ll be offering samples of some of our services, and we’ll have swag bags and goodies for everyone and giveaways.”

As the event is a cocktail party, “Cocktail attire is encouraged,” Lee said.

“Since the last year, we have been remodeling the salon,” she added. “We did all new chairs and mirrors and pictures. We have Italian leather chairs, a full color bar (in the front of the salon).”

“It’s all imported from Italy,” Biyoshi owner Brandon Harris said. “It’s modern and it’s sleek.

“I love it,” he added.

“It’s beautiful.”

“We used to have dressing rooms (in a back area), and now it’s going to be a lash lounge and beauty bar,” Lee said.

“We’ll be doing lash extensions, brow services, tint and stain, waxing, airbrush make up and other makeup services for special occasions,” she added. “We’ll be able to take bridal parties and bachelorette events, and hopefully we’ll be hosting some women’s nights or something.

“Our boutique also just got a new floor set and new inventory in as well. The fashions available are stylish with a fun, black and white sparkle and pizzazz.

Overall, “I think it’s going to be great,” Lee said. “I think that we’ve empowered some of our stylists to branch out and do more services, and that has allowed them to generate more money, and it gave them something new and exciting to do.

“What we have coming up is we’re going to launch this area,” she added. “We’re just introducing a whole new menu, really.”

As for new faces, “We hired a new employee who is a lash artist,” Lee said.

“I think the term she uses is lashtician.”

“We’re just excited to have something new,” Lee said. “Laura Mullaney, our education director, has always done makeup, and she’s a phenomenal makeup artist.”

The salon’s menu still will include its current hair color, cuts and blowouts, she said.

The salon, which still offers current hair services such as color, cuts and blowouts, has been open since August 2007.

Salon Biyoshi is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday; from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday; and closed on Sunday.
