Renegar is named new HVA principal

Dr. Kirk Renegar has been appointed principal of Hardin Valley Academy effective July 1, 2024.

An assistant principal at Knoxville Central High School during the 2023-24 school year, Renegar joined Knox County Schools in 2008 as a teacher at HVA.

He began his administrative career in 2013 in Virginia at Patrick County High School, as assistant principal, before being named principal of Hardin Reynolds Memorial School.

Coming back to East Tennessee, Renegar was named principal of Robertsville Middle School in Oak Ridge in 2018. On the collegiate level, he worked as director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research at Tennessee Wesleyan University, Athens (McMinn County) in 2022.

Renegar holds a bachelor’s degree in Modern American History from Brevard College (North Caroline), a master’s degree in Education from Shenandoah University (Virginia), an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University (Virginia).
