Milestone Montage makes memories
Jamie Mikol of Farragut launched a home-based business, Milestone Montage, LLC., last month to make special events more memorable.
“Milestone Montage is a service where I create custom video montages to be shown at special events or gatherings,” said Mikol, who also has been a writer for Knoxville Moms website for five years. “It basically just allows the guests to go down memory lane with whomever’s being celebrated.
“I can use pictures or video,” she added. “I can take it either already digitized or I can also take hard-copy pictures and VHS or VHS-C tapes.”
Mikol can create montages for birthdays, anniversaries, retirement parties, college or high school graduations, open houses, awards or special recognitions and business milestones, such as anniversaries.
“Any event where you have a large group gathering, and you want to go down memory lane (to take a) journey to this moment,” she said.
Regarding montages for funerals or memorials, “if it’s a quickly planned funeral, that’s not enough time for me to truly put together a meaningful package,” she said. “But some people have celebrations of life that are planned out into the future, and I can do something. I just ask to have all the materials at least one month before the event.”
Mikol started the business because “I wanted the flexibility of being readily available to my kids, but I also love celebrating the big moments, the big milestones, in our lives,” she said.
“And, I want to help people celebrate those when they get together with those important people in their lives,” Mikol added.
Having gone to school for TV and film production, Mikol’s passion was editing.
“This allows me to focus on just that part of production while fulfilling a need for people’s milestone events,” she said.
Before starting her business, Mikol was a stay-at-home mom for 10 years.
“Before that, I was in advertising,” she noted.
With her youngest child going into kindergarten, “I kind of felt like I really needed to reignite a flame from within me while still fulfilling my own passion,” Mikol said.
