‘Quest for Knowledge Summer Library Adventure’ in Town June 27
He will present “Fun with Forensics: Adventures in Chemistry” for children in fifth through seventh grades starting at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 27, in the Farragut branch library, 417 N. Campbell Station Road.
The event is free and open to the public.
“I’ve been going to the Knox County Public Libraries for the past 25 years, mostly in June but sometimes in July,” said Hazari, who taught for about 25 years and retired from the University of Tennessee nine years ago. “They asked me to visit at least half the libraries. There are 18 different branches for Knox County Public Libraries.
“I managed to get to all of them over the years,” he added. “It’s a lot of fun.”
The programs usually feature a magician, a representative from Zoo Knoxville and “a scientist who thinks sometimes he’s a magician. That’s me — Dr. Al,” Hazari said.
“This has been my thing to do — visit the public libraries and basically share with everybody (ages) 2 to 102 the joy of learning about science, learning about chemistry and just learning,” he said.
Hazari will be conducting experiments that bubble and “magical tricks that are really science,” he said.
