Gators, Piranhas, Stingrays finish in GKAISA top 6

Locals set 3 ‘City Meet’ records

KNOXVILLE — Three Greater Knoxville Area Interclub Swimming Association teams from Farragut finished in the top six, among a 27-team field, during the annual GKAISA “City Meet” in Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on the UT campus Thursday through Saturday, July 11-13.

Finishing a close second overall behind powerful GKAISA champ Knoxville Racquet Club (1,855 points) was the Village Green Gators (1,741).

Taking fourth place was Concord Hills Piranhas (1,428) followed in sixth place by Sugarwood Stingrays (1,211.50). Farragut’s Fox Den Red Foxes finished 19th as a team.

Individual, relay meet records

Individual champions included three Farragut swim team individuals and relays who set GKAISA meet records:

• Girls 13-14 50-freestyle: Village Green’s Emmy Zimmer (23.81, new meet record).

• Men 15-and-Over 200-medley relay: Concord Hills’ Andrew Chou, Evan King, Leo Karnitz and Christopher Rector (1:32.29, new meet record).

• Men’s 15-and-Over 50-backstroke: Concord Hiils’ Andrew Chou (22.70, new meet record).

• Mixed 8-Under 100-yard freestyle relay: Village Green’s Hank Wells, Luka Shaw, Nicole Griffin and Thatcher Fowler (1:08.46).

• Mixed 9-10 100-freestyle relay: Sugarwood’s Sam Vineyard, Delaney Baker, Keegan Estrada and Myla Dru Saffles (55.62).

• Mixed 13-14 200-freestyle relay: Sugarwood’s Beck Sams, Caroline Priban, Emma Hackett and Garrett Roberts (1:40.75).

• Women’s 15-Over 200-IM: Village Green’s Karley Wolfgram (2:09.14).

• Men’s 15-Over 200-IM: Village Green’s Stephen Zhukov (1.50.25).
