Intro to Farragut sign-ups, schedule are set for 2024

Town of Farragut currently is accepting applications for this year’s Introduction to Farragut Program. The program will kick off with a reception starting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28.

Classes will be held at 6 p.m. on the following Wednesdays: Sept. 4 (history), Sept. 18 (government relations), Oct. 2 (public safety), Oct. 16 (economic development) and Oct. 30 (education). Classes will last about 2.5 hours, depending on class participation and questions for the speakers. Graduation will be held starting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13. All classes and the graduation dinner will be held in Farragut Community Center, 239 Jamestowne Blvd. Class details found below.

The program is open to anyone who is interested; Farragut residency is not required. Each participant must attend the Aug. 28 reception, at least four of the five classes, participate in a volunteer project by completing volunteer hours at Farragut Middle School (more details provided at the Aug. 28 reception), attend at least one Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting and attend at least one Municipal Planning Commission meeting.

Deadline to apply is 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9. Anyone interested in participating in the program can apply online at www.townoffarragut.org/introtofarragut.
