Town No. 1 statewide in ‘Best Suburbs to Buy House’

Town of Farragut again is recognized as one of the state’s top overall communities.

Niche, an online platform for connecting people to their future schools, neighborhoods and workplaces, has ranked Farragut as No. 1 in “Best Suburbs for Buying a House in Tennessee.”

The ranking is based on reviews, survey responses and public data sources, including the Department of Education, U.S. Census and FBI.

“Niche ranks thousands of places to live based on key statistics from the U.S. Census and expert insights,” the Niche website stated.

Farragut Mayor Ron Williams attributed the Town’s standing to “hard work and perseverance with a great administration and staff.

“This ranking is no surprise at all, given Farragut’s amenities, like beautiful neighborhoods, recreational opportunities, easy access to shopping and dining and excellent schools,” he added.

Farragut received a grade of A+ based on several key factors, including quality of public schools, housing, amenities for families, jobs and a low crime rate.

“These things didn’t happen by accident,” Williams said. “They’re the result of forward-thinking leadership since the Town incorporated 44 years ago and our continued commitment to making Farragut the best place to live in Tennessee and beyond.

With an overall grade of A+ for the Town, Niche ranks Farragut as No. 2 in the “Best Places to Buy a House in Tennessee” and No. 3 in Best Places to Live in Tennessee.”

It received an A for public schools, housing jobs, A+ for good families; A- for outdoor activities and health and fitness; B for nightlife and cost of living; B- for weather and commute; and C+ for diversity.

“Living in Farragut offers residents a rural feel and most residents own their homes,” the Niche website stated. “Many retirees live in Farragut and residents tend to lean conservative.

“The public schools in Farragut are highly rated.”

Farragut High School, which ranked No. 9 among best public schools in the state; Farragut Middle School ranked an A, while Farragut Intermediate School ranked an A-.

According to its Niche website, the Town has a population of 24,795 with a median home value of $463,300 and median rent of $1,525 monthly. National median home value is $281,900; national rent is $1,268.

The Niche website stated 86 percent of Farragut residents own their home, while 14 percent rent their homes.
