Macy #1 in USA
A majorette, Morgan competed at Drum Majorettes of America Nationals (12-through-14-year-olds) on the University of South Carolina campus in Aiken, South Carolina, Wednesday through Saturday, July 14-17, where she won the National Beginner/Intermediate Show Twirl title.
Last year, Morgan, daughter of Jarett and Janet Morgan, attended Farragut Middle School, where she participated in FHS band.
“She has twirled with Tri Star Twirl for the past six years,” her mother said. “They compete as a team and as individuals at various local, regional and national competitions, and her coach is Mindy Thomas, former UT majorette and FHS majorette.”
Morgan said she was surprised and really excited that she won.
“When I heard my name, I was shocked,” the teen said. “It was my first time competing at nationals. I was thrilled with excitement.”
“She spent the majority of her summer working hard and practicing her routines for nationals,” Janet said of her daughter. “She gained a lot of confidence from winning at nationals.”
