DAR honor for Lee at Riverside Coffee Shop

General William Lenoir Chapter, NSDAR, recently awarded the Mary Smith Lockwood Medal for Education to Angela Lee, owner of Riverside Coffee Shop, 16239 U.S. Highway 11/70 in Dixie Lee Junction just outside of Farragut

. “The Founders Medals, established in 1995, recognizes citizens who have given unselfishly to their community, state or nation,” a DAR press release stated. “These medals are administered by the Reporter General’s Office. The deed, service or educational pursuit for which an individual is nominated must go far beyond his or her employment obligations or normal duties.” Liz Logan, left, General William Lenoir Regent, presented the award certificate to Lee, as displayed by her son. Becoming an expert on special-needs education as a parent while familiar with Applied Behavior Analysis, “Lee opened a transitional educational school that incorporates special education and training for the students to become functional employees.”
