To the rescue
Buddy’s bar-b-q saves day, caters Goodwill Industries’ Golf Classic fundraiser
“When Goodwill found itself without a caterer for its charitable tournament at the last minute, Buddy’s stepped in and provided the tournament staff and participants with high-quality barbecue for a long day on the course,” a press release stated.
“The Goodwill Golf Classic is an annual golf tournament in Knoxville that helps fund Goodwill’s mission to provide vocational services and employment opportunities to individuals with barriers to employment in Knox County,” the release further stated. “This year’s tournament included a complimentary lunch with University of Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello, who led his 2024 Vols to a national championship.
“I wanted to extend a sincere and huge thank you (to Buddy’s) again for helping us out last week,” said Amanda Brackett, marketing director of Goodwill Industries-Knoxville Inc.
“The food was a big hit with the golfers, and we had no leftovers,” she added.
“A staple of Eastern Tennessee’s dining scene, Buddy’s bar-b-q is always eager to lend a helping hand to the community in times of need,” the release stated.
“Buddy’s was founded on the principle of treating guests like family, and we believe in extending that philosophy to our community,” said Laura Luallen, marketing and community relations and project coordinator for Buddy’s bar-b-q. “Barbecue is all about bringing people together, and we are proud to help such a great cause.
“Since 1972, the Buddy’s brand has been woven into the fabric of the Eastern Tennessee dining scene by consistently offering a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere where guests can dine comfortably,” the release further stated. “From classics like the pulled pork sandwich, smoky ribs, and hushpuppies to new takes on American favorites, like hawg back fries, Buddy’s stays true to their roots, providing ‘A Smokin’ Good Deal’ to the community.
“ ... Buddy’s offers a menu suited for the most discerning barbecue palates and is a favorite among locals, tourist,” the release also stated.
