HARDIN VALLEY — Jessie Burkhart and Dannielle Wilson agreed that Burkhart’s Farragut Lady Admirals took the fight to Wilson’s Hardin Valley Academy Lady Hawks, in terms of scoring chances, in the second half of this District 4-AAA girls soccer showdown at HVA Thursday evening, Sept. 12.

But Hardin Valley (5-4-2 overall, 0-0-1 in district after this match) hung on to at least avoid defeat, playing FHS to a scoreless tie, as the Lady Ads stood at 5-2-1, 2-0-1 after this rivalry.

“They did well to hold us scoreless,” Burkhart said. “We definitely would have liked to come out a little stronger in the first 40 (minutes).

“Hats off to them,” she added about HVA. “They held their ground, they played well and we just couldn’t get it in the back of the net. They’ve got a good backline. They’ve got a good goalkeeper . ... We didn’t do enough, but we’ll go back and figure it out.”

“That’s definitely my strong suit; we have a solid backline,” Wilson said of senior Lauren Gray, freshman Reagan Wilson and sophomores Anna Ogle and Marley Pitstick on defense, and junior Lauren Lambert in goal. “We have a solid goalkeeper.”
