Coleman brings experience as fp’s newest account exec
Bringing lots of advertising sales experience to farragutpress, Glen Coleman is on board at this newspaper as an account executive, effective Wednesday, Nov. 6.
His sales responsibilities will be in the Town of Farragut plus Loudon and Blount counties.
“My whole life I’ve sold media,” Coleman said about his 18 years of experience in this field. “I started off in Yellow Pages. … worked at Metro Pulse until they closed down and worked at Fox 43 … where I sold advertising for the WVLT station.
“Then after that, I went to Gannet, which is the News Sentinel, and sold advertising there right up until I came here,” he added.
About getting on board with farragutpress, “I’m a lifelong Farragut resident, pretty much. I moved here in 1984 and graduated from Farragut High School in 1987, and then graduated from UT (anthropology degree) in 1995 after that,” Coleman said. “… My daughter (Olivia) is a freshman at Farragut High.”
About being prepared for the job, “I’m very social, which is a necessary,” Coleman said. “When you have to introduce yourself to people and have comfortable, beneficial conversations, it helps to have that trait. I’m also extremely well-versed in all forms of media, including digital. I think that’s one of the reasons that Kathy (Hartman, general manager) wanted to bring me on board, because the company is going to have to slowly begin to incorporate more digital to grow with the times.”
As for goals, “I’m looking forward to growing the offerings of the company and, first and foremost, the profitability of the company,” Coleman said. “And then also growing by adding more offerings so that we can better serve our existing and prospective clients.”
“With Glen’s vast experience in the Knox-area media world, and his outgoing and approachable personality, farragutpress should benefit greatly from his hard work,” said Alan Sloan, farragutpress editor.
Coleman has a son, Conner Coleman, a freshman at UT. His fianceé is Renee Willingham.
