Celebrate the Season set by Town for Dec. 5
Santa Claus is coming to Town.
The Town of Farragut again is gearing up for its annual Celebrate the Season event, presented by its Arts and Beautification Committee.
The event will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, in Farragut Community Center, 239 Jamestowne Blvd., with the same favorite activities as last year.
“We’ll have photos with Santa available,” special events coordinator Rachel Malone said. She advised families to arrive early for the photos with Santa “if they want to guarantee they will get a spot for the picture.
“We’ll have a cookie-decorating station; there will be some crafts and an opportunity to write a letter to Santa,” she said. Also, there will be a holiday movie playing.
Celebrate the Season is free of charge and open to the public, according to Malone.
“Whenever they walk in, if they want a picture with Santa, they will get a time card that will give them their 15-minute window where they can get in line to get their picture made with him, but no registration is required,” she said.
This is Malone’s second year with the Town as event coordinator.
“I’m excited,” she said. “It was a lot of fun last year. There were a lot of families that came and enjoyed it, so we’re expecting the same this year.”
Malone estimated there were around 300 who attended last year’s Celebrate the Season and anticipates the same crowd this year.
Attendees can park at the Community Center, the Senior Center or in Faith Lutheran Church’s parking lot next door if there is overflow parking.
Nearby, families can tour Founders Park at Campbell Station to view the Town’s Light the Park holiday display.
Also, Farragut Alderman Alex Cain has announced “a project I have been involved with for the last four years has moved here to the Town of Farragut.”
A Christmas light music show, choreographed to music, will run from 6 to 11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, and from 6 to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, now through Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Farragut Golf and Games, 164 West End Ave., in conjunction with Light the Park and the synthetic ice rink at Ralph McGill Plaza The light show, featuring 240,000 LED pixels taking the space of a hockey rink, is a fundraiser for Mission of Hope and costs $5 per person.
“We’re just really grateful that the Town of Farragut has welcomed (the organizer) with open arms,” Cain said. “We’re looking forward to establishing a long-term holiday show.”
