Pedrelli brings Italian landscaping expertise to Farragut, East TN
Lucia Pedrelli of Farragut is putting her landscaping experience from Italy to use by launching her own home-based business, Primavera Gardening.
Pedrelli came less than a year ago to the United States from Bologna, Italy, bringing her landscaping skills with her. She launched the business last week but has been in the gardening field in East Tennessee since last spring.
“I started gardening under someone,” Pedrelli said without disclosing the name.
Now, she has evolved as an owner of her own business, providing maintenance to homeowner’s landscaping.
“I noticed with big landscaping jobs, they do the job (then) they’re out of there,” she observed.
At the same time, the customers don’t have anyone to maintain the gardens. “So eventually, they are going to need another big job.”
But, that is where Pedrelli comes in.
“I like to help with the maintenance of these gardens that are so beautiful,” she said. “This is because, I think, there’s just something beautiful about having your garden as an extension of your home.
“There’s something special about just going in your garden and feeling that sense of peace and tranquility,” Pedrelli added. “You just see all the nature in your yard … you see all the seasons.”
“And the garden echoes your house. It’s like your interior design talks with your garden.”
However, Pedrelli said most people do not like the work required to maintain their gardens.
“Most people don’t have time, and most people don’t enjoy it,” she said. “I can take care of those plants so they don’t have to. That’s why I’m there — to help them so they can enjoy it.
“You go out, and it’s beautiful,” Pedrelli added.

Comparing Italy with East Tennessee, she observed, “It’s a little different because here you can actually make a business out of (gardening).”
In Italy, Pedrelli said people really do not have private gardens.
In Bologna, “We have apartments more than anything,” she added. “It’s hard to find people who have their own property.”
In the United States, “your landscaping is huge — your lawn care, your pruning, your mulch, everything,” she said. “It’s all more intense here.”
For her husband, PG Pedrelli, Farragut is familiar, as he lived “here since he was 7,” Lucia said. “We met (six years ago) because we went to Zadina (a beach), the same place in Italy (when he visited). “
Their relationship “was long distance for a long time.”
