1,000-plus for Brophy
Hawks blow past ’Canes
Jumping ahead big early and building a 30-plus point lead in the final quarter, the Hawks (10-8 starting the week) won 77-46 on a night one of their top scorers was celebrated.
Hardin Valley senior wing Ben Brophy added to his 1,000-plus career point mark last Friday by scoring 10. Brophy’s 1,000-point mark was reached during a holiday tournament game at Webb School of Knoxville against the Spartans Saturday, Dec. 14.
Brophy was recognized for his career point mark alongside Arendt during a brief pre-game ceremony. “They honored me tonight because this is our first home game since” reaching the milestone, the senior said.
Against the Hurricanes, Hawks senior point guard Bryson Frey led in scoring with a game-high 19 points.
“We had just gotten back from the trip to California, and we played a lot of physical ball out there,” Frey said. “I think it translated tonight; it really got us ready for this game.”
Senior wing Jace Burum scored 13 for HVA, followed by senior post Will Fellers adding 12 and fellow post Barron Scheetz, a senior, with nine.
Freshman wing Michael Fritts scored four points for the winners.
