• Dr. Greg Mathien, senior orthopaedic surgeon for University of Tennessee Athletics, has been named Southeastern Conference Team Physician of the Year for Orthopedics. He is the third Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic physician to be honored by the SEC.
Mathien has been treating student athletes with the Vols and Lady Vols for 33 years. This recognition is voted on annually by the SEC Directors of Sports Medicine. UT is one of four SEC schools to have three team physicians win conference awards in its 23-year history.
• East Tennessee Children’s Hospital recently won the 2024 Tennessee Employment First Inclusive Employer Award, recognizing businesses/employers that make efforts beyond legal requirements related to the recruitment, hiring, advancement and retention of people with disabilities in the state.
For 10 years, ETCH has participated in Tennessee’s Project Search, a nationally acclaimed program designed to transition students with intellectual and development disabilities into employment through internships at local businesses.
• Jonathan Mayfield has been promoted to president of Home Federal Bank. David Reynolds, current president/CEO, will continue to serve as CEO and assume the additional role of chairman from Dale Keasling, who will continue as a member of the bank’s board.
Mayfield is a Knoxville native and a graduate of University of Tennessee. He also is a top honor graduate of the Southeastern School of Commercial Lending, a member of Knoxville’s 40 under 40 Class of 2018 and a graduate of Leadership Knoxville Class of 2023.
He has been active in the community, serving as past chair of Grace Christian Academy School Board and volunteering in various capacities with Emerald Youth Foundation, Change Center, Helen Ross McNabb, Ronald McDonald House, KCDC, Christ Led Communities and YOKE.
• Realtor Patti Brabham of Weichert, Realtors - Advantage Plus in Knoxville recently was awarded the Accredited Buyer’s Representative designation by National Association of Realtors. This designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation and helps agents advocate for homebuyers. It is the highest credential in buyer representation awarded by the National Association of Realtors.
