Lots of girls get to play in Lady Ads blowout at West
KNOXVILLE — On Friday, Jan. 17, Farragut High School’s girls basketball team suffered a heartbreaking District 4-4A loss to archrival Bearden on the road.
Going into Friday night’s District 4-4A road game at Knoxville West, the Lady Admirals had easily won all three games since then, all of which were district.
The matchup against the Lady Rebels made it 4-0, and the game was long over by the end of the first period.
When West’s Emma Capps hit a lay-up with 5:44 left in the first quarter, it cut FHS’s lead to 7-4. The Lady Admirals then outscored KWHS by an eye-popping 34-1 the rest of the half to lead 41-5 at the break.
The 66-15 win improved Farragut’s record to 17-7 overall, 6-1 District, entering this week.
“In a game like this you have an opportunity to get better,” FHS head coach Jason Mayfield said. “... “Had some players get some minutes that needed them.”
Jaci Neubert, Lady Ads senior guard who hit four treys, led FHS in scoring with 18 — outscoring West by herself.
Trinity Curry, Farragut sophomore post, added 14 points, while junior guard KJ McNealy pumped in 11.
“We played really hard and were really competitive, especially in the beginning,” Curry said.
Capps got 10 points for West.
