Black History Month at CUMC continues

Each Wednesday evening in February, Concord United Methodist Church’s Community Care Night “will provide a lens into the role Christianity has played in the efforts to secure Civil Rights for all,” a CUMC press release stated about its weekly celebration of Black History Month.

A free meal is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Worship time is held from 6:30 to 7 p.m., and in February will feature messages each week about The Gospel and the Civil Rights Movement, including a play Feb. 19 titled “Walk, Don’t Ride” for ages 10 and older.

• Feb. 12 – Pastor of Discipleship Brooke Hartman will share “The Gospel Within: Dr. Martin Luther King the Preacher.”

• Feb. 26 – The Rev. Harold Middlebrook will share his experience as a pastor and leader during the Civil Rights Movement as a friend of Dr. King.

All events are free and open to the public.
