Among the fighter jets Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Ryan Watson flew was the Lakenheath Air Base (England) F-15E Strike Eagle. Watson, a Farragut resident, finished his more than 21-year military career, which featured him as a combat fighter pilot (15 years).

The last four-plus years, Watson has served the 134th Operations Squadron as a refueling pilot at McGhee Tyson Tennessee Air National Guard Base behind the airport in Alcoa.

Watson’s final military flight found his wife, former USAF 2nd Lt. Emily Watson, and their four children among those viewing the emotional landing, which came at the TnANG base on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 29. A celebration of Watson’s career followed at the base.
