Always ‘a mind for helping people,’ Hunsaker opens RFM
A knack for helping others has led Tyler Hunsaker, a Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce member, to branch out in his own venture, Revolution Financial Management, which he launched Jan. 13.
“I’ve always had a mind for helping people, and I’ve been a business person and restaurateur for the last 20 plus years,” Hunsaker said. “I just saw that people were needing someone to stand on their behalf, and I feel that financial literacy is that thing.”
So he evolved from his role as regional manager of event and field marketing with TDS Telecommunications to owning his own business.
“I decided it was more of something I had a passion for — to help other people learn and be more educated,” Hunsaker said.
“So, instead of building a corporation’s dream, I wanted to build my own dream.”
With the business, “we
take a look at six areas of foundational wealth,” he said.
“You wouldn’t build a home without a blueprint, so that’s what we do with our financial needs analysis.
“We take a look at asset accumulation, debt solutions, proper protection, estate planning and wills and then we also do long-term and short-term savings,” Hunsaker added. “We teach people where to place their money to get the best returns for themselves.
“Everything we do is absolutely for free,” as the new businessman explained he receives money from companies that provide products.
“If we were to find something that makes sense for the individual,” it would be “the big companies pay me,” he added. “We are under the third largest broker dealer in Canada and the United States, so we’re allowed to offer many more products than most, It’s more like we’re marketing and we’re not selling.
“Instead of me telling you there’s one product that will
fit you, I get to take your dreams and needs to the open market and let businesses
fight for your business.”
Although Hunsaker said he could provide solutions for a wealthy 1 percent, “My main focus is middle class
and underserved or unserved communities,” he added.
Hunsaker’s business hours are from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and closed Sunday.
