Webb star Green is Miss Basketball II-AA
It wasn’t surprising that the brightest star on the best team in Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association’s Division II-AA level would be named Miss Basketball in the state of Tennessee.
Webb School of Knoxville junior wing Meeyah Green earned that honor after leading her Lady Spartans (29-3 final record) to the Division II-AA state title at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville Friday and Saturday, March 7-8. All Miss and Mr. Basketball state honors at all Division I and Division II levels were announced Tuesday, March 18.
In Webb’s 52-47 state semifinal victory against Lipscomb Academy (27-4), Green put up a team-high 15 points with seven rebounds and four assists.
One day later in the state title showdown versus Christ Presbyterian Academy (23-7), won by Webb 61-47, Green pumped in 19 points to go with five assists and five rebounds.
