Merediths featured during FHS baseball Cancer Awareness Game

To properly honor Farragut High School baseball’s annual Cancer Awareness Game last week, Casey Meredith was asked to throw out the first pitch. Her son, Admirals sophomore Braiden Meredith, caught mom’s strong toss to the plate during a pre-game ceremony before the game at FHS’s The BallPark at Farragut/John Heatherly Field versus Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett Friday evening, April 4.

Jeff Meredith, Casey’s husband and Braiden’s father, lost his courageous battle with cancer only a few weeks ago.

Each FHS coach and player held up a sign — while lined up along the first base line — telling of a relative or friend battling cancer who is in their prayers and thoughts. Each coach and player also wore pink socks in honor of the awareness effort. (See Casey’s actual first pitch, and the FHS player line, on the front page of our Wednesday, April 9, issue.
