Cancer Awareness with FHS basebal

Meredith family spotlighted

To properly honor Farragut High School baseball’s annual Cancer Awareness Game late last week, Casey Meredith was asked to throw out the first pitch. Her son, Admirals sophomore Braiden Meredith caught mom’s strong toss to the plate during a pre-game ceremony before the contest at FHS’s The BallPark at Farragut/John Heatherly Field versus Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett Friday evening, April 4.

Jeff Meredith, Casey’s husband and Braiden’s father, lost his courageous battle with cancer only a few weeks ago. Each Admirals coach and player held up a paper sign — while lined up along the first base line during the ceremony — telling of a relative or friend battling cancer who is in their prayers and thoughts. Each FHS coach and player also wore pink socks in honor of the awareness effort.
