Thirteen locals named TSWA All-State in girls basketball, boys hoops, wrestling

Thirteen Farragut area athletes in Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association winter sports recently were named All-State by Tennessee Sports Writers Association.

Basketball girls

All-State Basketball honorees included several Farragut area players.

Girls honorees included junior wing K.J. McNealy of Farragut and junior point guard Natalya Hodge of Bearden.

Also earning All-State were two members of the TSSAA Division II-AA state champ Webb School of Knoxville Lady Spartans: junior wing Meeyah Green and freshman post Kyndall Mays, along with two-time state champ Amaya Redd of Knoxville Catholic, a senior guard.

A pair from Christian Academy of Knoxville round out the All-State local girls: junior Cole Thompson and sophomore Maddie Braden.

Basketball boys

Boys honorees feature two members of Webb School’s boys Division II-AA state champion team: juniors Owen Lentz, a wing, and Cam Swearengen, a forward.

Also named were Knoxville Catholic junior Cade Murphy, Bearden junior point guard Justin Nordin and CAK senior wing Caden Owens.

Wrestling

Bearden junior Deameion Leavell, a third-place finisher in the TSSAA Division I-AA wrestling state meet in February (165-pound class) who was a regional and sectional champion, was the lone Farragut area wrestling honoree named TSWA All-State.
