Town leaders, developers welcome Bruster’s Real Ice Cream to Parkside Drive July 24

This is the last piece of vacant property in Turkey Creek, according to Town officials.
“This is a great corner,” Farragut Mayor Ron Williams said. “We’re going to have a lot of fun here, and we appreciate Robert bringing this brand to us. It’s something that my wife and I enjoy anytime we’re out in Powell. We always stop in (at the Emory Road location) or if we’re down at Cedar Bluff, so having one here … this is where we’ll be getting ice cream in the future.
“Thirty some-odd years ago, I raised my daughters in Village Green,” said Allen, who now lives in Knoxville.
Now “… Turkey Creek’s here, the growth of Farragut is here and the growth of Farragut is what has inspired me to come here,” he added.
“We’re looking forward to being back engaged in the community, hiring young adults and feeding many adults, children and puppies.”
Danny Kirby, licensed broker, expressed his appreciation to Allen for bringing “his great brand of Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, that’s going to go in this location.
“He provides a great product for families throughout the area, and there’s no doubt this is going to be a great family hangout in the future in the Town of Farragut,” Kirby added. “When people drive up and down this road, they’re going to see a lot of fun here.”
“I’d like to thank Robert for this particular site. There were a lot of other locations around Town that Robert could have chosen to put his new location — but he chose this.”
Not to forget the featured municipality, “Mayor of Farragut, the Town of Farragut, (Town administrator) David Smoak, all the aldermen, all the staff — engineering, planning, all those guys — this couldn’t happen without you,” Kirby said. “You all were very helpful in the process and we really appreciate it.”
He also applauded developer Jim Nixon “for his efforts on behalf of Turkey Creek Land Partners in working with the Town and working with the staff to title the site so we could get a Bruster’s here at this location.”
Also present for the event were Chet Carbaugh, project manager with RTC General Contractors; representatives from Site Incorporated, a civil engineering firm; R2R Studios, an architectural firm; Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce; and Farragut Business Alliance; along with Stacy Connatser, first vice president relationship manager with Mountain Commerce Bank.
Bruster’s Real Ice Cream’s brand started in 1989 with Bruce Reed, based in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, making ice cream by hand. It now offers 150 ice cream flavors as well as sundaes, candy blasts, milkshakes and more.
