• Turner Homes has announced the recent appointment of Jennifer Brewer, CPA, as its new chief financial officer. With nearly 30 years of experience in finance and accounting, Brewer previously served as CFO at Schaad Companies in Knoxville. Her background also includes leadership roles at Wickam Holdings and SunCoke Energy.
• The West Satellite Office currently housing Knox County Health Department, Clerk’s Office and Trustee’s office has relocated from Old Cedar Bluff Road to a new facility at 9000 Executive Park Drive.
The Clerk’s office and Trustee’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the Health Department is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended hours until 6 p.m., Tuesdays.
• Karns Fire Department Board of Directors recently appointed Herman Lathers as the first full-time fire chief. Lathers has assumed leadership of the department, overseeing its team of firefighters, emergency rescue operations, fire administration services and the delivery of community safety initiatives.
• Knoxville Orthopaedic Clinic recently was named a Top Workplace by Knoxville News Sentinel based on feedback from KOC employees.
This marks the third time in five years that the leading orthopaedic provider has earned the top honor, with wins in 2022 and 2021, according to a press release.
Winners were recognized at the 2025 Knoxville Top Workplaces Annual Awards Celebration on July 23.
• Ethan Nicholas, Rocky Davis and Luke Belangee recently joined the firm of Rather & Kittrell in Farragut as associate advisors. They will be working with existing RK advisors to help clients make informed decisions with their money.
• 7-Eleven on Lovell Road was one of three Tennessee stores that recently were ranked among the nation’s best for roller hot dogs by 3,006 drivers and truckers. It came in sixth nationally. It was followed by Mapco in Chattanooga, which ranked 44th, and Twice Daily in Nashville, which ranked 70th.
