Application process has begun for new alderman
While Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen did not meet for its Thursday, Aug. 28, meeting for lack of a quorum, it has started its application process to find a new alderman to serve the remainder of the late Alderman David White’s term, which expires in August 2026.
According to Mayor Ron Williams, the schedule for applications would tentatively be the following:
• Town accepted applications Friday Aug. 29, through noon on Wednesday, Sept. 10;
• Aldermen will review applicants Thursday Sept. 11 through Wednesday, Sept. 24;
• The Board will discuss and vote on a nominee to be appointed to serve as South Ward alderman Thursday, Sept. 25; and
• A swearing-in ceremony for new South Ward Alderman is scheduled for Thursday Oct. 9;
“At the Sept. 11 Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting, we will have a discussion item on the agenda about what procedural process the Board would like to follow during the voting process to select the individual to be appointed to the South Ward alderman position,” Williams said.
Applicants could send in their interest in the position through the Town website, by e-mail to the Town Recorder (Allison Myers), by mail or they could drop off their resumes in person during the application period.
“If you have any questions about the process as I have explained above, please let me know,” Williams said.
