Admirals finish strong at Cherokee Classic

Both Farragut High School cross country teams delivered strong performances at the Cherokee Classic 5K on Saturday at Cherokee Park, with both the boys and girls squads earning second-place team finishes.

The Admiral boys placed second overall with 76 points, led by Chase Temples, who crossed the finish line sixth overall in 16:28.40. Andrew Cabaniss followed closely behind, securing 10th place with a time of 16:47.80 while Tyson Ebbert rounded out the top three Farragut finishers in 15th place at 16:59.40.

The Admirals’ scoring was completed by Anders Kofoed (23rd, 17:20.40) and Cullen Brewer (26th, 17:31.40). Nick DeGuira also contributed with a 27th-place finish in 17:38.70.

On the girls side, Farragut also claimed second place with 80 points. Christie George led the Lady Admirals with a 12th-place finish, clocking 20:02.20. The team showed remarkable depth with three runners finishing within 17 seconds of each other: Zoi LeCours placed 14th (20:15.70), Addison Haynes finished 15th (20:19.00), and Bailey Ann Smith claimed 16th (20:34.00).

Ella Gruzalski completed the scoring for Farragut, placing 28th with a time of 21:47.80.

The junior varsity races saw dominant performances from Farragut athletes. Mateus Griffen captured first place in the boys JV 3,000-meter race with a time of 10:21.90 while Ava Brinley took the top spot in the girls JV 3,000-meter event, finishing in 12:43.70.

Farragut will look to build on Saturday’s strong showing when they travel to Huntsville, Alabama, for The Southern Showcase Sept. 12.
