Tasting event to benefit Shepherd of Hope Food Pantry

Rotary Club of Farragut invites the community to its Rotary Reserve: Bourbon and Wine Affair.

“This is a tasting experience benefitting Shepherd of Hope Food Pantry and Rotary Club of Farragut,” RCF club fundraising chair Stephanie Markowitz said. “There’s a portion that goes to Shepherd of Hope Food Pantry (housed at Faith Lutheran Church in Farragut); but then, the excess money will go to other Rotary projects and other charities that we serve in the community.

“I know that we have partnered and worked with Shepherd of Hope before,” she said.

The event, which is open to the public, is slated for Sunday, Oct. 19, in Water Into Wine bistro & lounge, 607 N. Campbell Station Road, Farragut. Cocktails begin at 5 p.m. and the event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

“It’s an evening of fine bourbons and exquisite wines, gourmet bites and buffet dinner after the tasting and a bourbon- and wine-themed silent auction,” Markowitz said.

Following the cocktail hour, RCF president Candace Viox, owner of Water Into Wine, explained the bourbon and wine tastings, which include a presentation by a representative of Nelson’s Brewery (a Nashville-based company for the bourbon) and a winery distributor, also feature tapas, or appetizers.

“They are going to have the choice of bourbon or wine,” Markowitz said. “Three different bourbons (in a flight).

“If they choose wine, there is a selection of a white wine flight or a selection of a red wine flight,” Viox said. “Each wine flight offers a taste of three paired wines.”

Markowitz pointed out attendees cannot do bourbon and wine — they have to choose.

A buffet meal will follow the tasting experience.

“After dinner, (attendees) can purchase more (alcohol),” she said.

Tickets are $150 per person.

“We’re also looking for table sponsors, which is $2,500 for a table,” Markowitz said. “That includes six people to the event.”

For tickets, visit the club website, rotaryfarragut.org or at Water Into Wine (cash or check only).

“If a Rotary member, we can invoice them, (but) they don’t receive their ticket until they have paid in full,” she said.

Tickets are limited as the event is limited to 60 people, Markowitz said. The last day to purchase and pay for tickets is Wednesday, Oct. 16.
