FMS Science Bowl team finishes in Top 16 at national competition

The team, consisting of Jaishen Jiang, Elena Wu, Aarya Khule, James Ha and Jaden Han, represented their school and community at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl, according to Kathy Browning, the team’s coach and seventh-grade science teacher at FMS.
“Out of 48 highly competitive teams from across the United States, Farragut’s strong performance earned them a $1,000 award for the school’s science club,” Browning said.
She added the team “demonstrated exceptional knowledge in science, math and engineering through a series of fast-paced, buzzer-style rounds.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for our students and a testament to their hard work, teamwork and love of science,” Browning said. “We are so proud of their dedication and the way they represented Farragut Middle School on the national stage.
“The National Science Bowl, sponsored by U.S. Department of Energy, is one of the nation’s most prestigious academic competitions, bringing together thousands of students each year to test their knowledge in science and mathematics,” she added.
Looking ahead, Browning said the Farragut Middle School Science Bowl team “has already set an even higher goal: to break into the top 12 in the nation at next year’s competition.”
