Games, vendors, inflatables planned for Fall Festival

This year’s event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at the school, 509 N. Campbell Station Road.
“This is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Kaitlynn Copinger, vice president of communications for FPS’s Parent Teacher Organization. “We raised $44,000 last year and we’d like to raise about the same this year.
“The money that we raise goes to support our students, teachers and staff, and we’re really proud of some of the things we’ve been able to accomplish in recent years,” she said. “We helped to construct a new playground at the school. We helped install new basketball hoops.
“The PTO purchases birthday books for our students that when a student has a birthday, (he/she) gets a little token and gets to go to the book vending machine in the school and pick out a book, and we pay for the books in the vending machine,” she said.
“We also purchase a class shirt for every student,” Copinger said. “These shirts are worn to field trips and special days at school.
“The PTO also funds classroom grants that gives teachers new items for their classroom that they need,” she said. “We also pay for Kona Ice for all of our students at end-of-year parties … and we show our staff our appreciation for their hard work with a special lunch.
“The money that we raise through the fall festival makes this possible and will support our ongoing work to uplift Farragut Primary School, its staff and all of our students,” Copinger added.
“As for the fall festival, it’s a really fun event,” she said.
“All are welcome (to the festival),” said Copinger, who added people do not have to have children enrolled in the school to attend. “We’re very excited. Farragut Primary School PTO is hard at work to make an amazing event for everyone.”
Wristbands are $20 at the door on the day of the event to play games, make crafts, and enjoy inflatables.
“Wristbands are only needed for kids ages 3 and up for
entrance into the festival, where kids can play carnival games, arts and crafts and have fun on the inflatables,” said Copinger, who added adults get in free.
“We have something fun for everyone,” she said. “If you’re looking for something unique to take home with you, you can bid on amazing items that we’re going to have available through our silent auction featuring 65 to 70 items.
“We’ll have lots of sweet treats for purchase at our bake sale. We also will have spirit wear,” Copinger said.
“We’ll also have music performances,” she added. “Our second-grade classes are performing at the festival, and the theme is ‘Seasons of Music.’”
The performances will be at noon and 1 p.m.
“Something new this year that we’re excited about is we will have food trucks,” Copinger said. “We’re going to have Southern Yankee Pizza, GypsyKitchen and Taco Mafia, and as usual, we’re going to have Kona Ice.”
Additionally, Finley, the school’s dolphin mascot, will be available for photos.
Copinger said there will be limited parking at the school and she recommends parking offsite at locations such as Farragut Public Library.
