Cleveland unkind to Dawgs

Cleveland — Something had to give when Bearden High School’s football team made the long trip to Bradley County to tangle in a Region 2-6A contest between a pair of winless teams.

The Bulldogs and the Blue Raiders have had similar struggles in 2025 as both

have young rosters and both lost key transfers following last season.

On this night, it was Cleveland that did enough to propel itself into the win column, notching a 28-10 victory over the Bulldogs.

“They’ve had a similar type of year as we have,” Bearden coach Brad Taylor said. “We knew that one of us was going to get a win and it was them.”

Taylor said the long trip

was a factor for his team after the Bulldogs dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the region.

“We had to make a long trip and I don’t think we handled that very well,” he said. “We had some opportunities but we just weren’t quite ready to play as fast as we needed to play to win the game.

“We did have some guys who were tough and played hard until the end of the game, but we just weren’t ready to play as fast as we needed to play.”

The Bulldogs scored on a field goal by Alonzo Sanchez. They found the end zone in the fourth quarter when Aiden Thacker connected with Paxton Parrott.
