Lady Hawks run away with 2-AAA crown

Knoxville — Hardin Valley Academy’s girls cross country team ran its way to a Section 2-AAA Championship early last week.

The Lady Hawks posted a stellar team performance as they swept the top two individual spots and had three scorers finish inside the top five and four athletes crack the top-10.

Alexandra Vesser won the region title as she posted a time of 19 minutes, 3.00 seconds. Ana Berkheimer crossed the finish line in second place (19:06.96). Rachel Benson finished fifth (19:117.73). Ava Berkheimer was ninth (20:14.24). Ana Sophia Marquez rounded out the scoring for HVA, finishing 11th (20:36.65).

The Farragut Lady Admirals had four of their scoring runners place inside the top-10 at the region championships.

Christie George was Farragut’s top finisher as she crossed the line in third place and clocking in with a time of 19 minutes, 8.99 seconds. Zoi LeCours finished fourth as she had a time of 19:17.24.

Bailey Ann Smith finished eighth, posting a time of 20:09.74. Addison Haynes was 10th (20:33.24). Emmy Graber finished 16th (21:02.24).

Bearden also competed last week.

The Lady Bulldogs Brielle Pickett finished 19th (21:10.25). Afton Cruze took 21st (21:45.50). Payton Hall finished 32nd (24:46.26). Saibh O’Neill came in 33rd (24;31.00) and Riley Dixon was 40th (25:53.50).
