Admirals close out season with fifth-place at state

Memphis — Farragut High School’s boys cross country team closed out its 2025 season with a fifth-place finish at the TSSAA Class AAA State Championships at Shelby Farms Park.

Sam Shagan posted a top-20 finish for the Admirals as he came in 14 with a time of 16 minutes, 12.10 seconds.

Chase Temples finished 36th (16:34.44). Andrew Caboniss posted a 42nd-place finish as he completed the 5,000-meter course in 16:37.51. Tyson Ebbert was 66th (16:53.01). John Williams rounded out the scoring for FHS as he came in 96th (17:11.72).

Hardin Valley Academy also posted a top-10 finish in the team standings as the Hawks came in seventh.

Isaac Socha was HVA’s top finisher as he came in 39th with a time of 16:16.48. Aiden Rufi was 46th (16:37.96). Stephen Bell came in 53rd (16:42.92). Cooper McKaig finished 58th (16:45.85) and JD Rutig came in 69th (16:54.11).

Alexander Montpelier, meanwhile, represented Bearden in the state championships. He finished in 202nd place and posted a time of 18:29.60.

In Division II-AA, Knoxville Catholic placed third. The Irish had three athletes place inside the top-20.

Cade Duncanson placed 13th as he clocked in at 16:07.42. Evan Van De Goff finished 17th (16:22.34). Radek Molchan was 20th (16:37.87). Owen Bannister was 22nd (16:44.69) and Levi Sprecher came in 23rd with a time of 16:44.80.

In Division II-A: Christian Academy of Knoxville placed sixth in the team standings.

Talan Sturdevan was the top finisher for the Warriors as he came in 14th with a time of 17:15.74. Cohen Flatt was

21st (17:32.32). Nate Hickman came in 25th with a time of 17:50. 18. Hayden Adams finished 69th, posting a time of 19:06.73. Ricky Parker was 71st (19:14.15).
